Regular Giving
You can help the Sleep Apnoea without ever writing another cheque!
By joining our Awake for Sleep Club you can show your willingness to raise awareness and help those with sleep disorders and make your donation work better.  Even small regular donations make a big difference over a period.

Giving regularly helps in many ways:
They reduce our admin costs and help long-term planning
They quickly mount up
They make it easier for you to give as payments are spread out.

You choose exactly what to give, and how often, and can change your instructions when you wish.  At the end of the tax year, SAANZ will send a receipt which you can use toreclaim back one-third of what you have given from Inland Revenue.  This is credited directly to you.

To join the Awake for Sleep Club please click here to contact us, and we will send you the form you need.

Giving Through Your Will
Drawing up a Will is not complicated, but to make sure your wishes are carried out, it is best to do it with the help of a lawyer.  This way you make sure that your estate (your ‘worldly goods’) are used in the way you wish after your death.  Not having a Will means that your estate is divided according to pre-determined legal rules and your estate may not be distributed the way you wish.

It is easy to make provision in a Will to leave money to the Sleep Apnoea Association.  You can either leave a specified sum, or a percentage of your estate, or you could leave ‘property’ (which, in legal terms, includes anything tangible be it money, jewellery or a house).

Giving through your Will does not affect your life-style now as it only comes into effect after your death.  It ensures that the things you care about will continue to benefit from your generosity after your death.  If you have already made a Will, it can be changed by means of a Codicil (which needs to be drawn up by a lawyer to ensure it correctly says what you wish to happen).

The following form of words can be used in your Will to give effect to your wishes:

“I GIVE AND BEQUEATH free of all duties to the Sleep Apnoea Association of NZ Inc
    * (a)   the whole of the residue of my estate
    * (b)   one …… part of the residue of my estate
    * (c)   the sum of $ …………….

For the general purposes of the Association and I declare that the receipt of the Treasurer or Manager or other officer of the Association shall be a full and sufficient discharge in respect of such payment.”

* delete whichever are not applicable

Giving at Your Workplace
A number of employers now support workplace giving campaigns.  Donations can be made every pay period, or sometimes there is a chosen charity for the year, or a company event has a charitable component, or the company backs employees with a matching a ‘$ for $’ donation to encourage everyone to take part and make the donation ever bigger.

Whichever way it happens, it is a wonderful opportunity to get others involved.
